Japanese
If I can find this in English somewhere, I'll put that up as well.
Weapons: Zanpakuto—
Name: Hyorinmaru. (Pronounced He-your-een-mah-ruu.)
Type: Ice/water.
Level: Bankai.
Description (Part 1):
Normal—
Full Sword
Guard
Hilt
Back Strap/Clasp
Overall Length: 42"
Handle Length: 12 1/2"
Blade Length: 29 1/2"
Hyorinmaru must remain in this form while sheathed, so the sheath vanishes when drawn. Toshiro generally leaves it in this form even when in battle.
Shikai—
In its shikai (released with the command, "Sit upon the frozen skies" followed by its name), Hyorinmaru itself remains the same, but gains a crescent-shaped blade attached to the hilt by a chain. Hyorinmaru allows Toshiro to control water and ice to a certain extent. The slashes created by Hyorinmaru gives off an immense amount of spirit power which overflows from the tip of the blade, creating a flow of ice vaguely shaped like Hyorinmaru's dragon spirit. The dragon flies at opponents and instantly freezes anything it touches. The chain-blade also freezes anything Hitsugaya traps with it. When released, Hyorinmaru can actually affect the weather, usually depending on Toshiro's mood—a sunny day or a clear night can quickly gain heavy stormclouds, and he once turned a large room into an ice cavern. But that was a long time ago, and he was REALLY pissed off (and this was actually in bankai), so that's not likely to happen again any time soon.
Shikai
Bankai—
Hyorinmaru's bankai, named Daiguren Hyorinmaru, causes ice to flow from Hyorinmaru onto Toshiro, forming into two large wings and a tail. Ice also forms into a dragon's head around his sword hand, encasing it up to the hilt; which is in the shape of an eight-pointed star. His right arm is covered fully until the wrist where it then spans into claws, leaving his hand and fingers free (in case this is misleading, no, he's not a leftie). Toshiro's feet are encased in ice in a similar manner to his right hand. Additionally, his wings are capable of folding around him to serve as ice shields. The wings can be used by him to fly more effectively than by the usual method using spirit particles. Three "flowers" of ice, shaped similarly to the lotus-shaped guard of his zanpakuto, are also created behind him with four petals each, which melt away as Toshiro attacks/defends. These serve as a timer—once they're gone, his bankai vanishes. However, as long as there is water in the surrounding area, his bankai can regenerate itself indefinitely, during which time the flowers are not visible.
His bankai has two special techniques. The first is "ryuusenka" which freezes any enemy he stabs, locking them into a cocoon of ice and freezing them to the core. Once frozen, Toshiro can shatter his opponent. The second is "thousand-year ice prison," which forms a multitude of ice pillars using the moisture in the atmosphere. These pillars then envelop the enemy.

Description (Part 2):
Hyorinmaru's spirit form.
Personality:
Like his Lieutenant, Toshiro always has a rather icy demeanor, with his eyebrows constantly furrowed. Unlike her, this expression comes more from his personality than from an instinctive default. Toshiro is generally mature and serious, and is easily annoyed by others goofing off within earshot of him. He is very touchy about his size and age, and hates anything he deems childish. His intuition has always been very sharp, and he was one of the only Captains to suspect Gin Ichimaru of treachery prior to Aizen's betrayal. He did not, however, suspect Tosen or Aizen himself of the same. Toshiro prefers to be called by his title rather than by name, but will not reprimand certain people and/or under certain circumstances (i.e, they aren't aware of the existence of Soul Reapers, he's in a good mood, more important matters, etc.). No matter what he is doing at the time, the word "midget" rarely fails to get his attention and piss him off. He has a strong sense of responsibility and always puts his subordinates before himself—even if he's in a hurry, he'll always at least call Squad 4 (the medical/relief squad) to look after a defeated scout group. He can be overly protective of particularly close friends, and takes their pain and suffering personally. It was because of this character trait that he specified that one such friend of his, Momo Hinamori, not be allowed to come on this current mission, due to its dangerous and highly personal nature.
Likes: Watermelons, all the work being done and out of the way, everyone acting like adults for once in their lives, cold weather.
Dislikes: Warm weather, being referred to by anything other than his title, being mistaken for a child.
Family: Grandmother, currently living in Junrinan—1st District West Rukongai. He doesn't see her very often.
Brief History:
Toshiro comes from Junrinan, District 1 of West Rukongai. There he lived with his grandmother and Momo Hinamori. He was also a friend of Jidanbo, the West Gate Keeper, whom he taught the "city rules."
As a child, he was a bit of a brat that estranged himself from others, with the exception of his grandmother and Hinamori. The three were very close, and he was irritated when Momo left to join the Shinigami Academy. Throughout his childhood, he was always aware of what seemed to be an icy presence within himself.
Five years after Momo's departure, Toshiro encountered Rangiku Matsumoto—then a normal-ranked Soul Reaper—in a marketplace. The two got into an argument, and Rangiku noticed his enormous latent spiritual power.
That night, Toshiro had a dream where he met Hyorinmaru for the first time, though he could not hear the spirit's name. He woke up to find Rangiku admonishing him for not being able to control his power, which had been freezing his grandmother. It was this experience that caused him to grow up very quickly, and Rangiku was easily able to convince him that power like his needed to be controlled, and therefore to become a Soul Reaper himself.
With his natural talent, he entered the Shinigami Academy in spite of his age and was quickly recognized as a prodigy or boy genius, a fact he rather disliked due to his teacher's attitudes toward him because of the fact. Here, he met Kaite Natsume and found a friend and rival in her, though the relationship remained largely professional.
Upon graduation, Toshiro was assigned to Squad 13 under Captain Jushiro Ukitake, where he remained for several years while he mastered his bankai. When the Captain of Squad 10 resigned his post, Toshiro took and passed the Captain Proficiency Test, becoming the youngest ever to reach Captain rank and ironically becoming Matsumoto's superior. He selected her as his Lieutenant—a choice he later regretted on several occasions involving everything from laziness to spent savings to destroyed paperwork, but regardless wouldn't have changed if he could as they still were quite close friends and Rangiku still had her strong points. Roughly one month later, he ran across a transfer request from one Kaite Natsume of Squad 11 and was quick to accept it, taking care to greet her and three other new recruits personally for once.
Years later, he faced Aizen briefly in an attempt to defend/avenge Momo, and was nearly killed in the process. He later led an advance team against the Arrancar in the human world and was part of the final battle in which the traitors met their end—or so everyone thought.
Within the next five years, Matsumoto replaced Aizen as Squad 5's Captain and Toshiro replaced her with Kaite, who turned out to be much better with an officer position than Rangiku had been, but still a bit immature.
Fifteen years later, he assigned Kaite to a particularly interesting quadrant of the living world and within the week received a report from her involving a witness to a secret operation by Aizen and his accomplices six years previously. He immediately brought the report to the Head Captain, who one week later called a Captain's meeting. There, it was decided that Toshiro was to go to the human world and await an away team chosen by the remaining Captains. He departed immediately and is currently trying to find his Lieutenant amongst the massive student body of this crazy school where everyone can see him.

The symbol here (to clarify, the thing that looks like a plus in the kite) is on the back of his haori (the white "coat"). It's Squad 10's symbol.
