The trees loomed above. The leaves on them danced wildly about, pushing and pulling; the sturdy little things stayed on their branches. White snow blanketed the ground, it looked so magical and peaceful. Though Sameth wasn't paying much attention to that, instead he played absently at the peircing on his lower lip. Its cold metal taste touched his tounge, before he pulled it back into his mouth. His emerald eyes stared at the white world. The leaves shaded the ground, the sun could not touch his fair skin and burn a hole through his muscles. The wind picked up and pushed against his tall, slender figure. His ebony hair pushed back and away from his face. He tugged at the blue scarf around his neck, pulling it tighter to keep the wind from chilling him further. Something flapped its body about in the distance, its dark shadow turning aorund to look at Sam. Its yellow eyes peirced his own, making him turn away slightly. The black shadow started to advance on Sameth. Its figure grew, the detail on its facaul features started to become more clearer; Its top lip was up in a dark snarl that pronounced itself through the animals sharp long fangs. Its pink tounge poked out to lick at its lips. Sam should have moved, but he didn't. His attention was on something else ahead of the wolf. A dark shadow flitted through the trees and then disappeared. Pushing his dark eyebrows down in a puzzled frown; Sam returned his attention to the advancing wolf. It was unusally big, its black fur was more thicker than usual due to its winter coat. The wolf stopped infront of Sameth and looked up at the young vampire, "What is it?" He asked rather hastily, looking around quietly. "I don't..know." Sam replied, moving his hand down to touch the rough fur. His eyes shifted all around him. Seeing nothing else he turned to lean on a large tree trunk. "Just a shadow." He said after a moment. "A shadow?" The lip curled up again, this time a deep growl escaped from those lips, "Shadows are bad Sam. They do only come out at night, but...they probably travel like you do." He looked up at his owner, a worried look trained into his yellow eyes. "I know they are bad, Rogue, but it could only be someone following us." Sam said to Rogue. Sam looked up through the trees, the sun was high in the sky; It would be dangerous for Sam to travel back out of this world and back into..civilisation. He shuddered quietly, not wanting to worry Rogue, Sam stood up and quietly moved around to another tree, keeping to the shadows at all times.
Complete, and open to anyone.

//OOC| There aren't a whole lot of deciduous (leaf-bearing) trees in Washington; it's almost all evergreens. XD And if there were, wouldn't the leaves have fallen by now? XD \\
If there was one thing Toshiro loved, it was winter.
The crisp, cold air; the wind; the snow.... It made him feel at home. He could sense Hyorinmaru's contentedness in the depths of winter, and that served to put him in an even better mood. Of course, no matter how happy he was, nothing was going to get in the way of his job, and that was why he was in the forest at this particular moment. He'd just finished off a Hollow that had been evading the two Shinigami for a few days now, and he and his Lieutenant had planned to meet here to run a few routine checks on the area and give a status report to Head Captain Yamamoto. Of course, they'd originally planned to meet later in the day, but the Hollow had drawn him here ahead of schedule. As a result, Toshiro was lounging in the crook of a branch in a sturdy tree that didn't move much in the wind. Seattle's winter climate is harsher than Japan's. The wind is so much stronger. He thought idly, looking up at where the sky should be—but, even from this height, the pine needles blocked it out. And the trees are strange. The leaves are more like quills of some kind.
Of course, just when he got some time to himself, yet another strange reiatsu had to interrupt him. Murphy's Law 101. He analyzed it, not without some irritation, and found it was of the sort common to the people with pointed teeth. It didn't move for some time, but then he heard voices. Two voices—which was weird because he only sensed one reiatsu, aside from the animals—both too quiet to make out whatever they were saying. They fell silent after a while—then the reiatsu started moving in his direction; sticking to the shadows; until finally it was actually right under his tree. Toshiro rolled his eyes. He might as well say something, he figured. Luckily for Mr. Sharp-Tooth (he could see now that it was, in fact, a black-haired male), he caught the young Captain in a fairly good mood. "What exactly are you doing?" He asked the boy off-handedly, opting to look down at him rather than vacate his position in the tree. He still hadn't even noticed the wolf.

[OOC| Oops, I didn't know that! xD]
Sam tugged at his jumpers sleaves. Pulling them over his long fingers. A piano player, he would have been, if he wasn't what he was. Though, Sam naturally didn't enjoy the tang of rolling music. It irritated him. Though Rogue seemed to enjoy one of a beaty tune, and what annoyed him the most was that Rogue enjoyed watching him grow red with anger. Rogue moved around a little more, sniffing at the ground with his sensitive nose trying to pick up anything. Sam watched with interest, as the wolf picked up an unusual scent and started to follow the scent. "I'll stay here." Announced Sam, knowing that Rogue would rather be left alone when he is on one of his smelling rampages. The wind picked up again, pushing small mounds of snow over and over. His green eyes watched the small ballerina's dance and twirl over and over again. They must get dizzy, don't they? Thought Sam. Curiosity made him crouch and start to play around with the snow. Rolling it up with his fingers. It melted in between his fingers. The heat in his fingers turned the snow into a cold liquid that would have been water. It ran down his finger and onto his palm. It chilled him, but it was rather refreshing, he realised, whipping his hand on the leg of his jeans. A deep growl made Sam look up in surprise. "What is it?" He asked. The wolf was sniffing around a tree a little further off. The yellow eyes met Sameth's green ones. After a moment of thought, Sam stood up. The insides of his knees ached from kneeling on the snow. Picking up each leg briefly he stretched and shook each of his long legs. Glancing around, he saw no one. "You're an idiot Rogue. There is no one here." Though at that moment a voice called from above his head. Sam jumped violently, nearly falling into the sun. He regained his balance and glanced up. Staring at the boy in the tree, Sam frowned. He had wanted to be on his own, like always. The company of others seemed to draw his shy side out. Feeling irritated Sam looked around. Wanting the comfort of Rogue. He let another low whistle out to Rogue. Who came to his side immediatly. "Taking a stroll." Said Sam simply. He wanted to yell and scream at this boy, to make him go away and leave them alone. But, he didn't. [/sup][/blockquote]

//OOC| I just realized I had Toshiro hearing Rouge's voice in my last post.... >_< Please overlook that. XD \\
Uhh... Was that a wolf Sharp-Tooth had just whistled over? It sure as hell looked like one, anyhow. "Taking a stroll," he replied simply. Once he managed to remember that the unfamiliar word 'stroll' basically meant walk, Toshiro was left wondering what to say next. He just had to open his mouth. He wondered if he should get out of the tree after all—Sharp-Tooth might take it as offensive if he maintained the high ground. But then it'd look like some dramatic scene from one of those sillier anime shows, and he wasn't much inclined toward that image. "Huh," he deliberated. After a moment's consideration, he decided just to say the first thing that came to mind. "Handsome wolf. He looks strong, capable," he remarked finally, casting an idly appraising eye over the animal. It really was a fine specimen, very large with healthy fur and a regal bearing. He wondered what the story was behind these two, anyway....

[OOC| Oh, yeah i see that ]
Sam stared at Rogue when the boy started to talk about him. An odd look of pride seemed to sweep over the animals face. Sam frowned. This was not like Rogue at all. Taking another peek up the tree, Sam noticed for the first time that he didn't look very old. "Yeah, he is." Was what Sam said to make up for his silance. He wasn't into talking much. He was sure that the boy would soon realise, and give up and go away. Then again, he might just persist with him. Staring at the ground, Sam studied where the shadows where, before making his way over to a tree that sat opposite to the tree the boy sat in. Sliding down the stump, Sam stared up at this boy. Then decided to atleast try to say something. "So...what is your name anyway?" Was all he said. To much, in his point of view. Rogue followed Sam over and sat beside him.

"Yeah, he is." After a moment's silence, the boy got up and went to sit at the foot of a tree facing the white-haired Captain. "So...what is your name anyway?" He asked of him, and it was then that he realized he had yet to give it. He winced at the stupidity of it. Talk about being socially inept. "It's Toshiro," he replied easily. "Yours?" He could, of course, tell by this point that the kid wasn't big on talking, but that suited him just fine—neither was he, after all. Of course, Sharp-Tooth probably wanted him to leave, too, but Toshiro had already decided he wasn't going anywhere. He'd been here first, and he wanted the time to himself as much as Sharp-Tooth. Why should he leave? It wasn't like he was going out of his way to please people, anyway.

Toshiro, was what the white-haired youngster said. He seemed to be a bit more mature for a 12yr old. Sam didn't know what it was, but it was something that made that statement seem true. His green eyes looked over the boy and wondered how he had gotten up the tree. It was so tall..Sam wouldn't have climbed a tree in his life. To high and anyway, the sun would peirce his skin. Yours? The words seemed to wake him from his little daze that never seemed to end. "Sameth. Sam for short." He said, glancing at Rogue he said, "And this is Rogue." He noticed that the wolf had fallen asleep, opening one eye at the mention of his name he let out a little "huff" and then rolled onto his side.

Toshiro didn't say anything for a moment after the boy had introduced himself and his wolf, trying to figure out how to translate 'Hajimemashite' into English without sounding medieval. 'How do you do?' was the best translation, but that was just sort of... wrong. "Nice to meet you, then, Sam, Rogue." he replied finally. Well, now what? Toshiro always had difficulty talking to anyone who was neither Shinigami nor aware of their existence. He went over a few possible comments in his head, but nothing seemed right. Maybe Sam would say something? Unlikely. Eventually, he was once again forced to resort to the first thing he happened to think of. "I'm sorry, but I can't help but wonder... is there a name for people with your kind of reiatsu?" It didn't really occur to him that Sam might not have any idea what he meant by 'reiatsu'—it just completely slipped his mind. Mostly, he was just glad he came up with something semi-useful to say.
Beepbeepbeepbeep... beepbeepbeepbeep... beepbeepbeepbeep....
His kikanshinki was going off. An order. He pulled it out of the pocket-like area where his belt held his kimono closed and flipped it open. A fairly powerful Hollow would make its appearance in the next five minutes out by the lake. Not even a Menos, but a threat all the same. Looks like he was saved by the bell. Before he could excuse himself and take his leave, however, a new message eclipsed the order: "I'm on it; I was just heading out anyway." Kaite. With a sigh, he snapped the 'cellphone' shut and stashed it. He apologized for the interruption and watched the boy in hopes of a response.
