This. Sucked. Ass. Okay, a little background story. It was just a cold, alright? Just a little cold. You know, the typical mind-splitting headaches, a stuffed up nose that made it difficult to breathe when eating, the coughing that scratched your throat dry and raw, a little vomiting here and there even if your stomach has been empty for days. But if this was just the typical cold or flu, what was it about this cold that freaked out Licander so much?
He never gets sick.
He has a high immune system, even higher than most Lycans, yet still there was something floating around that wound up in his system and made all his senses go out of whack. Yes, all his senses. After he'd gotten the cold, he stayed in bed for a day, but that was boring as hell. He got nothing accomplished there, just staring at his ceiling. If nothing else, he discovered that the ceiling needed to be repainted.
So off to class he'd gone. He was constantly sniffling, and coughing. People honestly started to shift away from him, as though he was diseased. But for all Licander knew, he could have been. Here is when he noticed his senses messing up on him. His eyesight was shifting in and out of blurriness, and it was somewhat distorted. Since he'd sat at the back of the class this time, he couldn't see a damn thing. This was odd and uncomfortable, considering he’s always had 30/20 vision. Yes, no glasses for this guy.
A few classes later, he noticed his sense of hearing was off. There was a ringing in his ears, which sometimes would pitch up to a volume where he would even try to cover his ears in an attempt to block out the ringing. It didn't work. His sense of smell was gone, given the fact that his nose was all stuffed up.
And then his sense of touch. His fingertips and toes began to tingle like when they're asleep, but the feeling spread up his arms and legs, eventually covering the rest of his body. You can only imagine how uncomfortable that was.
So, ditching class, Licander went back to the dorm he shared with Toshiro and Vincent, and tried to go back to sleep, however, his stomach was growling and the empty space was growing very uncomfortable. After wolfing down some miscellaneous food items from the fridge, he almost immediately whirled around to the bathroom and heaved it all out. Within the next few days, Licander learned he couldn’t keep anything down, not even water. He also learned his sense of taste has disappeared.
He stayed under the covers all the time, staying as still as he could whenever his roommates were in, trying to stay unnoticed, or just at least so no one would bother him. He knew this wouldn’t work for very long, but where could he go to be instead? He contemplated going into the forest, but when he was missing classes for about a week, a teacher had apparently grown worried about him (he usually never skips class), and told the higher ranked administration, who decided to send the worried teacher in to check up on Licander. When the kind graying man found Licander sleeping in his dorm, his face gaunt, his ribs showing through his too-thin form and his pale face, his first thought was Licander was looked like he was dead. But Li was still breathing, so he instead called the Infirmary.
He didn’t feel himself being transported from his own bed to the Infirmary’s stiff beds, given his sense of feeling was all out-of-whack, but let me tell you, when he woke up, he was less than impressed. He found himself hooked up to these tubes trying to pump water and nutrients into his system, and since he had never been in a hospital before, never mind even needing the reason to go into one, he had no idea what the hell was going on, though he did realize that he was in a hospital. He just didn’t know why there were tubes attached to him, or why he needed them, or what they were doing. He felt slightly better though, which was a good thing. When someone had come in to check up on how he was doing, they were shocked to find him awake, and then buggered off to go find someone to come in with her.
When they returned, Licander found out he had been out of it for a couple weeks. He found that ridiculous, but it was true. The air smelt crisp with colder weather. And then he realized – his nose wasn’t stuffed up! He could smell! He lifted up his hand and looked at it, analyzing it, seeing how it didn’t look so bony and skeletal. Maybe he should have gone to the Infirmary sooner.
When he had asked what had gone wrong with him, they said they didn’t know. Honestly, you’d think that after what these particular groups of doctors and nurses have seen within their lifetime, they’d know what it was, but apparently they didn’t. His heart had been failing and his lungs collapsing, as well as his liver was all out-of-whack as well. It was a god thing that the concerned teacher had checked on Li when he didn’t, or he might have not been waking up this afternoon. Apparently he was good to go, but they wanted him to come back and do weekly check-ups, just to ensure he didn’t go back into the state he was previously in.
They lent him a fluffy wool sweater, and then sent him on his way.
Now outside, Licander looked around. Since he had never been near or around the infirmary before, he wasn’t quite sure where he was. Was he on the south side or the north side of the building? Li blinked and looked around, his breath coming out in fog in front of his face.

Vincent was wondering around the school looking for Licander. He was worried about him, but at the same time was wishing he wasn’t looking for him. He decided to change into his cat form and look for him that way. He hid behind a tree before changing into his small, furry cat form. He collar made a ringing noise as he walked, the pendant marked with a V glittering in the light. he slowly walked away from the tree when he noticed his missing roommate standing outside the infirmary. He was jumping all around like a hyper kitten before gracefully calming down and walking up to Licander. He rubbed his body against his leg and purred happily. his bright blue eyes were looking up to Licander, hoping to be petted or noticed in some way by his missing roommate.
