[x] let`s just pretend the clock;;
Two thousand years ago, the night sky looked completely different, and so when you get right down to it, the Greek conceptions of star signs as related to birth dates are grossly inaccurate for today's day and age. It's called the Line of Procession: back then the sun didn't set in Taurus, but in Gemini. A September 24 birthday didn't mean you were a Libra, but a Virgo. And there was a thirteenth zodiac constellation, Ophichus the Serpent Bearer, which rose between Sagittarius and Scorpio for only four days.
The reason it's all off kilter? The earth's axis wobbles. Life isn't nearly as stable as we want it to be.
* * *
At this point, the rain was beginning to come down a bit harder. No more than five minutes ago did the rain begin, a light mist, sort of like the 'Mist' setting on the hose nozzle that you see gardeners using. Kai had been left alone when his cousin, DJ, had suddenly said I'm going to the club. I'll see you... sometime tomorrow. Watch yourself. Kai began to protest, but she waved her hand at him, before going through the door. So because there was nothing decent on TV, and he hadn't met anyone interesting yet, he decided to lock up the house and go for a drive. He eventually ended up at the Beach, which was empty, so he went for a walk along the shore.
His usually dirty blonde hair was now looking like a light brown from the water getting it wet. Being by a beach with no shelter didn't help any, but Kai enjoyed the rain. Kai looked at his feet, which were bare, for a second, then closed his eyes. He was wearing a t-shirt which was just plain black, but had a white tie printed on it. Covering his legs were black jeans, not skinny jeans but not baggy either, and a silver chain hung from his belt loop and went into his back pocket, where his Fox wallet was situated. After wandering for about , Kai wandered off of the sand to a grassy area further from the brim of the water. He laid down on his back, partially under a tree, looking up to the sky which was dark with the heavy clouds, pouring down the water it has promised to return to the earth's surface. ;;is five minutes earlier than it really is [x]

//OOC| Man, stuff just looks way too huge. o.o *uses size=1 tag from now on* \\
Lieutenant Natsume sat on a driftwood log someone had hauled up away from the surf—lord only knows how long ago that must've been. She ignored the rain, eyes focused on the screen of her "phone," scanning a GPS map of the town in a habitual manner. She glanced up at a human boy who walked past her on his way up a little further from the water, proceeding to lay out on his back, partly under the sheltering branches of a tree a fair distance from her. He hadn't noticed her—which meant he was a normal human, unlike those at the school. He couldn't see her. Kaite turned her attention back to her original task dismissively. It was several minutes later that she was disturbed again—this time by someone she actually knew. "Hmm. So it was you here, Kaite." Kaite looked up to her right. "Hey, Ayame," she responded, a little surprised. "Followed me here again, huh?" "No." Ayame replied calmly, seating herself next to the Lieutenant. "I came by myself this time. Had nothing better to do." "Mm." Kaite again returned her attention to the GPS map, ignoring Ayame. Of course, the girl got bored before long and spoke again, "Why do you come out here, anyway? It's pretty far from the school." The Lieutenant looked back up at the girl again, but didn't answer right away. With a sigh, she looked up at the sky instead and watched the clouds. "Because it's the best place I can find to look at the sky," she replied quietly. "It brings back... memories...."

[x] even if saving you;; There was a buzzing in his pocket, and Kai responded with a grimace. It doesn't take much to pull you back into reality, does it? You seem to be slipping into unconsciousness, the world, along with its troubles and its misery, all just seem to fade, until a cell phone goes, or when you have that violent twitch that gets you as you go from light sleeping to heavy sleeping. It was a shame. Kai was almost asleep, and he experienced both nuisances at the same time.
He pulled the sleek RAZR out from his pocket and glanced at the front screen. Text message from Katie ((close, isn't it?)). Flipping open the phone, he read the three words that he'd been reading over and over since he'd moved. 'i miss u' Rolling his eyes, Kai snapped the phone shut and slid it back into his pocket. She could miss him all she wants. But he sure as hell didn't miss her.
There seemed to be the sound of faint speech sounding in Kai's ears, though he dismissed it as just simply the sound of the rain trying to confuse him. Though it seemed to keep going on, So finally Kai sat up and looked down onto the beach. On a large log of driftwood, was a single girl, and her lips were moving. Was she... talking to herself? Well this just ruined his little escape. He didn't want to be near some schizophrenic who will probably end up going crazy and wander over to visit him. With an inward sigh, Kai pulled himself up onto his feet and began to walk. He could find somewhere else to go... most likely ending up being "home" anyway. He had nothing else better to do, plus the bottom of his jeans were all wet and sandy anyways. Though, he'd have to pass by the schizo girl... With any luck she'll be too busy talking to thin air to see him. ;;sends me to heaven [x]

"Memories...." Ayame echoed quietly. Kaite interested her, both because of her hundred-plus years and her strange attitude. Sometimes she could be outright anti-social, other times she only looked that way. After a moment's time, she tried pursuing the subject. "What sort of memories?"
"That's not important." Kaite replied shortly, focusing back on the GPS map. Movement caught her eye before long, however, and she glanced over to where the boy was getting up and heading in their direction. I thought he couldn't see me...? She watched him as he approached for a moment before Ayame noticed and followed her gaze. "You know him?" the girl asked the Lieutenant. "No, never seen him before." Natsume replied slowly. Realization hit her suddenly—he'd seen and heard Ayame, but he couldn't sense the Lieutenant. The boy had thought Ayame was crazy and was taking his leave. Natsume dropped her head into her free hand with a slight groan—what the hell was she going to to about this piece of crap....
Ayame wasn't sure wether to watch this boy or Kaite, and kept switching her gaze between the two of them. Figuring she might as well find out what was making the Lieutenant act like that, she spoke again. "Kaite? Something wrong?"

[x] and the sun;; The buzzing continued, but this time Kai didn't even bother to check what it said. Katie... Damn was she ever annoying. The whole time he lived in Calgary, she believed herself to be his boyfriend. He did nothing to reel her in; she just sort of wormed her way into his world and tried her best to stay. She would call him every night, only to be hung up on. He didn't like her in the least bit. Though she would never seem to get the clue. Even now, when he was in another country, she wouldn't go. Why? What was up with her? She was just a nuisance to him, yet he was the world to her. Who could honestly be that desperate? Could she not see the signs that he wasn't interested?
There was a time period when he was sure he was being stalked by Katie. He never gave her his number. He never gave her his email, nor his MSN. She found him on Myspace. She found him on Bebo. She found his house. Everywhere he went, she seemed to be there. The coffee shop. The theater. The club. His "VIP" parties. She became friends with his mom, so once he came home to find her sitting in his room, on his bed.
She left feeling on top of the world, because even though he told her to get out, at that moment, his focus was on her, and only on her. ...Talk about creepy.
You know him? Kai looked up to see that schizo girl looking directly at him. He was a little closer, so he could hear her clearly, and make out some of her features. She had an interesting hairstyle, he'll admit that. Maybe her imaginary friend cut it for her. Heh... Kai's eyes looked ahead of him, trying not to make eye contact with her, though his eyes kept on drifting over to her, just to see if she was looking at him. By the looks of it, she was looking from him to the empty space beside her, and back. Over and over again. Damn. He'd definitely been spotted. But then again, if she hadn't noticed him, then she'd be very unobservant...
Kaite? Something wrong? Kai stopped dead in his tracks, his gaze set on the schizo. Did she just say 'Kai? Something wrong?' Was she talking to him?
What? he asked bluntly. He was a mere five feet away from the schizo, and his eyes were questioning. what did she mean, 'Something wrong?' Yeah, something was wrong. She was. ;;will set for you [x]

The boy stopped cold out of nowhere, his eyes on Ayame. "What?" His tone was blunt, his eyes questioning. Ayame blinked and glanced around for a moment in search of another possible target for his question. Was he talking to her? Why? "...Uh, huh?" Ayame muttered quietly, glancing back at the unresponsive Lieutenant as if hoping for an explanation. She returned her attention to the boy and replied politely, "I'm sorry, do I... know you?" "Oh, man...." Natsume said with a pained groan. She lifted her head from her hand, eyes on Ayame again. "Don't you get it? He's a normal human. He can't see me—he thinks you're talking to yourself. He's probably taking off." "Oh, crap...." Ayame muttered again, resisting the urge to imitate the Lieutenant's response to this realization. Now what?

[x] i`ve got my sight set on you;; She seemed to be looking around like, 'uh, are you talking to me or someone else?' Jesus Christ. Who else would be be talking to??? ...Uh, huh? That sounded intelligent. Kai rolled his eyes as she looked to the empty space for help. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. I'm sorry, do I... know you? One of Kai's eyebrows raised. It was her who said his name. What was with her?
He was about to comment, when she spoke instead. Oh, crap.... he heard her say quietly, and Kai frowned. He was regretting even considering beginning to talk to her, but now he had to find out what her problem was. If he didn't then it would bother him for a really long time.
What do you mean 'Oh crap'?? What's wrong with you?? Okay, so he was getting a little rude. but he was never known to make good decisions. ;;and i`m ready to aim [x]

"What do you mean 'Oh crap'?? What's wrong with you??"
Ayame did not reply immediately, but was careful to remain with her eyes on him rather than looking all over the place. How the hell was she supposed to respond to this? "Uh... sorry, I guess I just didn't get much sleep last night...." A little awkward, but maybe it'd work....
The Lieutenant now really wished she had a gigai—as annoying as it was to be stuck in a physical body, at least she would have been visible, and could therefore prevent this kind of situation from coming up. After all this was over, she should probably order one.... Although that could prove difficult without an Urahara Shoten branch in all of America, as far as she was aware. Now there's a thought—how do Soul Reapers regularly assigned in America get their supplies? She wondered briefly. Dismissing the thought for now, she set to watching the exchange. This could either get interesting or else just all blow over, it was impossible to tell.

[x] i think i`m moving but;; Uh... sorry, I guess I just didn't get much sleep last night.... So that was her excuse? He didn't believe it in the least bit. If she was so damn tired why didn't she just go to bed? Forget it. He shook his head and turned away, to the direction of his truck. Whatever, he muttered. He didn't have time for this. At this point he just wanted to get away from here... He once knew a schizo girl (other than this one) and she was really creepy. She'd have arguments with herself in the mirror, and claimed to 'see ghosts'. She's go dead silent in class, and talk all weird. Later, people would ask her what the hell she was doing, and she'd claim that she was possessed, or that she has the ability to communicate with ghosts. Pfft. Yeah. Right.
Kai began to walk away, and pulled out his phone. Something to distract him from that creepy chick back there. Flipping open the phone, he read the alert on the screen. "New Voicemail. Read now?" He pressed 'Exit', and the alert faded, and he saw the background. It was a picture of him and one who called Kai his "friend" from Calgary, and they're each chugging their own bottle of Bacardi. Suddenly he wanted to hear that Voicemail; maybe it wasn't Katie, and someone vaguely interesting. He pressed the menu button, and quickly he pressed the buttons to get to his voicemail, before checking behind him to see how far away from the weird girl he was. He was quite the distance. Good. When he looked back to his cell, he noticed that it was on 'Camera'. Turns out he messed up pressing the buttons. He looked at the screen and at the sand, when he noticed something very... odd, to say the least. Through the screen, he saw not two, but three sets of footprints in the sand [1]. What the hell...? Moving the phone so he could see with his own eyes, he glanced at the sand but saw only the two sets. He brought his phone back over them, but the third set was gone. What was that all about? He was sure he'd seen three, but... Oh whatever.
By the time he got to his truck parked on the sand ((yay for off-roading)), which was a red Toyota Tacoma, might I add ((my truck ^^)), he reached into his pocket for his keys, but found it empty. He checked all his pockets, but there were none. He peered into his truck window, and found them dangling from the ignition. He put his hand on the handle and pulled, but the door was locked. Fuck. Right now would be a great time to have On-Star. But of course he didn't. And no-one was home to bring him his keys. And he didn't know anyone who would have a vehicle to pick him up. Great. He'd have to cab it home, which was a pity, since he was hoping to save the money in his wallet for a Sixty. Only problem was, he didn't know the number for the cab, taxi, whatever the hell it was called. He turned, and looked behind him at the figure sitting on the log further down the beach. Fuck. With an annoyed sigh, he started to walk over to her. Not like he really wanted to or anything, but he needs to know the number for a cab...
[1]: You know how they always use cameras to see supernatural things. I just had to xD Oh, and sorry for not giving you a lot to work with. No much muse on this end >.< ;;i go nowhere [x]

//OOC| Yeah, my bad on that count. XD The camera thing works fine—Soul Reapers generally don't influence their surroundings in ways that humans can see except when in battle and make huge changes to the surroundings. *uprooted trees/frozen-over streets* XDDD \\
The boy just shook his head and continued on his way. Ayame sighed, using one hand to cover her eyes. Normally, she was a lot less likely to show any kind of emotion at all, but she was feeling out-of-character recently. Who could say why? "Well, that's taken care of, then." Kaite shrugged the matter off dismissively, eyes yet again returning to the GPS map. Ayame watched her out of the corner of her eye for a moment. "What is that you keep doing with that phone of yours?" She asked finally. "I thought it was just for receiving orders." "No," the Lieutenant replied evenly. "The kikanshinki is just like any cellphone—it just has some military features added. It's got this GPS map that can pinpoint the locations of Hollows, receives orders, and can send signals through the Senkai Gate so I can communicate with anyone in Soul Society, or vice-versa. How do you think I deliver my reports to me Captain?" Ayame blinked. Good point, that.

[x] free soul, you feel flawless;; His hands were situated casually in his pockets as he approached Miss Schizo, his eyes focusing on her head , trying to make out whether or not she was still talking to herself. There was no point in whether or not he could see if she was, he just... wanted to check. For the sake of checking. Yes.
Not surprisingly, he heard her talking, but not clearly. What .......... keep ................ that phone ............yours? ... thought ..................... receiving orders. Those were the only words he heard, but it wasn't like he was trying to eavesdrop in the first place. He couldn't quite care what she was saying to herself, because really, how interesting can a conversation with yourself get...?
A bit of time passed and she said nothing, which was good, and at this point Kai was just about a meter ((1 meter=1.0936 yards xD)) and a half away from the Schizo, when he stopped. He tried a better approach this time, not wanting her to be all, 'Me? Help you out? Pfft.' He really should start being nicer to random schizophrenic people. You just never know when you might need their help....
Hey... Um... Do you know the number for the cab? Not very smooth, but who cares. He had to get back 'home' so he could get his extra set of keys... And soon. He didn't want someone to key his truck or anything... Uggh... That would be brutal... ;;up there in the sky you will fly [x]

//OOC| Actually, I'm not even sure Seattle has a cab service. XDD I think they just stick to the Community Transit busses—cabs are a pretty rare sight, but there are a lot of those busses. XD Caution—pointless filler ahead. \\
"Hey... Um... Do you know the number for the cab?" Ayame turned around to see the boy again, apparently needing a little help. Unfortunately, he needed help with something beyond her. She replied in polite tones, not wanting to create an even crazier image. "My apologies, but no, I don't. Is there any other way I can be of assistance?"
Kaite ignored the boy's return, still scanning that map. It was an oddity of Soul Reapers who went on frequent away missions that they seemed to practically become addicted to the GPS feature of the kikanshinki, scanning it in a habitual manner for no apparent reason whenever they had free time. It was an inexplicable phenomenon, as that particular feature was originally intended just to simply pinpoint the location of a Hollow at the moment it appears as the attacks couldn't always be predicted, and it was really very useless to inspect it at all as it otherwise never really changed.

[x] i`d take another chance, take a fall;; My apologies, but no, I don't. Is there any other way I can be of assistance? Kai sighed and looked away. Uh…No…Never mind… he replied simply. Was there even a cab service here? Maybe there was C-train. However, he didn’t know what section of Seattle he lived in, never mind if this place even had sections, so that didn’t do him any good. He would walk, but the place he’s staying at it pretty far, even for a vehicle, so on foot would take him hours. Plus there’d probably be glass on the ground, which left him with two options: Break the window of his truck and get his keys, or call DJ. On one hand, he’ll get his keys and be able to drive himself home, but he’d have to pay to get his window fixed. On the other hand, if he called his cousin then he’d either get his extra set of keys delivered to him or she’d pick him up, bring him home so he can get his keys himself, then drop him back off at the beach.
Calling his cousin seemed like the more reasonable of the two. But no doubt she’ll be drunk with all her girlfriends, so they’ll all show up. Her friends were weird… They all wanted him. And they wanted him bad. Now, these aren’t the kinds of girls to be all shy or nothing; no, when they want him they go after him literally. On his first night in Seattle, DJ had a party in the apartment for the occasion, and had Kai been drinking, he never would’ve gotten out of there alive. Not even kidding you.
Only then did Kai realize his eyes had been set on the empty space beside the Schizo. His imagination ran wild, which led him to extend his hand out swiftly at the empty space – only to touch something. He pulled his hand back quickly then gave a weird look at the Schizo. Did he just touch something?? Was this girl actually talking to someone this whole time?
//okay, not exactly how we planned. Not much muse here.// ;;take a shot for you [x]

"Uh.... No.... Never mind...." The boy replied, and Ayame turned away, waiting for him to leave. But he didn't leave. He just kind of stood there, (unbeknownst to them) lost in thought as his eyes drifted over to Kaite, who was still apparently ignoring everything going on around her.
Until he suddenly poked her in the back.
Kaite sat straight up in surprise, snapping the phone shut on instinct as she stood up and spun to face him. "What the hell?!" she half-shouted. If this boy couldn't see her, why had he just done that? She knew he'd been able to feel it properly because she could—whenever normal people happened to brush past her, it usually felt more like a slight breeze than anything, unless she was the one that touched them. This had been solid contact, as much so as if it had been a spirit or someone from the school. The Lieutenant looked back at Ayame, who had followed her with her eyes. She shrugged slightly, as if to say, "I dunno, that made no sense to me, too." Kaite hesitated before she walked around the log and reached out to touch his hand for a moment. If he could feel that, then.... Well, who knows? Honestly, she just wanted to know how it was that he could do that without being able to see her.

[x] && i need you like a heart needs a beat;; It was a little weird, but the Schizo - or non-schizo, he can't quite tell anymore - seemed to not notice. Or so he thought, until her eyes drifted to the empty space which he'd 'poked', and shrugged. For some odd reason, a shiver crawled up his spine. So she was talking to someone. But who? what? Was there a ghost or something here? Kai had no idea was what going on here, seeing as he's just some everyday human who has no idea that there's all this spiritual and magical stuff going on behind his back.
Out of nowhere, Kai felt something touch his hand. He didn't think, but instead he whipped the hand that was touched up, and he hit what he'd assume was a cheek, but how could he tell if he couldn't see what was there? But he definitely heard a smack. However the hell that works. Kai took a step backwards and looked at the air he'd just pimp-slapped. Kai then looked at the... ghost-talker? He didn't think of her as a Schizo anymore. What the fuck is going on here?! he asked, demanding an answer. There was no way in hell he would leave until he figured this out. ;;but it`s nothin` new [x]
